About BTEP Program

The Department of Health and Human Services' Biotechnology Engagement Program (BTEP) encourages joint teams of former weapon scientists from the Former Soviet Union (FSU) and U.S. experts to co-develop projects and apply for support and cooperation in areas of research and development that address urgent public health concerns in the FSU. The primary source of proposed projects is through matchmaking and targeted requests for applications. This work will eventually help to develop and expand commercial discovery and production of drugs, vaccines, biologic test kits and other quality products and technologies designed to meet current public health needs in the region.
